Born in Tunisia in 1959, British designer Tom Dixon moved to the UK in 1963. A self-taught designer, he became well-known in the mid ‘80s thanks to a series of welded furniture made of found and salvaged materials. A collaboration with Italian brand Cappellini soon followed, along with the iconic ‘S’ chair. By the early 1990s, Tom Dixon had become a household name. The designer received an OBE for services to British Design in 2001.
